The Northampton Area
DjangoDotJune is happening in lovely Northampton, Massachusetts.
Northampton is two hours’ drive from Boston, 3.5 hours from New York City. It’s got a great pedestrian-friendly downtown, a vibrant music scene, art everywhere, five colleges within ten miles, and beautiful countryside all around. It’s a liberal place. It’s the kind of town that’s always getting those “best places to live” and “top arts destination” awards. It might just be the Lawrence, Kansas of Massachusetts.

- Herrell's, definitive original super-premium ice cream
- Sylvester's - great breakfast in the very birthplace of the Graham cracker
- The Bay State Hotel - a little bit of alternative music history. (Powered by Django!)
- Antonios Pizza - it's a bit of a drive from Northampton (15 min), but it is worth it.
Parking
Parking can be a challenge in Northampton on a busy weekend, though if you're from a real city it should be no sweat. The closest long-term parking is on Gothic Street; see this PDF map from the city's website for details. If you choose short-term parking, keep in mind that the meter-readers are quite efficient.
